SKABS - 96 DEMO

The Skabs from NYC.  The first demo was as dark as it was cool as it was catchy.  They will get stuck in your head.  Three language minimum on the lyrics of these seven addicting song.  The same songs were re-recorded a year later and came out on a 7".  They continued on into the early 2000's and put out an lp, although, the style had changed.  Thanks so much for Jon Kray for getting this to me.  Also the Image above is not of the demo, the demo had a face screaming.

The Bristles - Lifestyles Of The Poor & Unknown (1997)

The second Bristles album from 97' on BEER CITY RECORDS.  Picking up on a slightly mature lyrical content (they must have got jobs), possibly due to a different lineup. This record was recorded as a 3-piece, and was the first of two full lengths to feature Sean Abandoned on vocals.  Quality snotty street punk from North NJ! "Pills And Alcohol" is personal favorite!

First post in a while.  Don't know that blogs still exist - have lost track of time completely.  Anyway.... The first local show I ever went to when I was 12 (12-3-95, Indigo Jones Coffee House George Street, New Brunswick).  They were from Perth Amboy and the first real punks I had ever seen.  They looked like they were in the Exploited and were pretty happy about throwing people around during some of the bands. I, was happy that they all assembled with instruments mid-way through the show and secured a place in my brain as the first real punk band I ever got to see.  They had a chick in the band at the time and just killed it!  I got the demo and remember playing it in my headphones a lot being a pissy 12 year old little shit.   The demo was killer but I lost it.  I asked 3/4 of the band over the years to copy it for me and well they probably don't have it either.  Hope to hear it again some day. This 7" comes after the tape and the first track appeared on the PUNX UNITE VOL 1 compilation.   They had a CD that came out on a California label a year or two after this and I think maybe did a tour with the UK Subs.   I really REALLY REALLY would love to get a copy of that demo tape....
