Bristles - Too Fucked Up to Screw Up! (Split 7" with BLAH)

OH YEA WERE BACK BABY!  My wife brought my home a shooter of tequila and I recently grabbed the first ever Bristles 7" (who if you don't know by now are a favorite of this blog) So here i am!  I don't know if anyones even giving a shit about blogs anymore.  If i was hip and cared more i guess i'd probably run some cool instagram page but hey - fuck social media! Also regarding my 3 year gap in posting, i tried once to post an H-TOMB 7" from my phone with an "APP" but it was for shit and totally discouraged me for about another 2 years.  I still use a computer, heres a thirty year old Bristles record... Wow, never thought id type THATTT!

The Bristles sides just flawless as usual.  North NJ's perfected punk of the decade you really just cant go wrong - 3 songs about fuck you, being drunk, dont tell me how to live my life.

Included is the BLAH side of this record mostly because i appreciated their honesty on the liner notes (we dont give a shit, thanks to our parents, please book us).  Its worth a listen... if i had to guess someone recorded it on their 4 track they got for christmas.   I guess they never did much outside of this record... Kinnelon NJ 1993, i dont think the average age of the members could be more than 15.

The Victimized - Clear A Path For Destruction (2004)

The Victimized from Union, NJ.  Great bunch of guys!  This is a CD-R that was put out towards the end of their run.  Members went on to play in Razorblade Handgrenade.  Aggressive hardcore punk in the vein of Discharge, Varukers and the like.  Enjoy play loud!

21 Rounds - Will Play For Beer (2006)

Lehigh Valley NJ street punk at its finest!  Band evolved from the terrific Main Street Mayhem who had a great demo i'd love to find again.  Singer Frank is one of the very few people i've been seeing at shows consistently for well over 20 years and is always a pleasure to have a beer with.   Crank this one loud!

The Cuffs - EP (1996)

The Cuffs are a long forgotten band.  Maybe its supposed to be that way as someone told me they all became cops and lawyers(send me a PBA card if you read this)... I dont know that thats true but I was talking to one of them in aol - punkchat and he sent me this record.  A few weeks later they played a great set at Coney Island High and then wound up shaving their heads.  They did a few more records, some on Headache.  Good streetpunk for the time from the outskirts of Philly on the NJ side!

The Poo Poo Platters - Is Riff Randle Dead (1994)

Great honest garage punk from Edison NJ.  I heard about these guys from someone at the Woodbridge mall when I was bumming cigarettes near the bus stop... when I was 12.  How could a twelve year old not love a name like that?   Anyway I don't think I wound up finding the record until twenty years later.  I dont know anything about this band but its a great piece of suburban punk none the less.  enjoy!

The Deviators - Century 21 EP (1990)

Woah!   Its been a very long time and I apologize for my absence.  But in the midst of the great almighty CORONAVIRUS I have found myself with a lot of free time on my hands.  What better excuse than to get back into posting on here... And i've not slowed down accumulating stuff to post.
Lets get to it then!    I don't know that much about the Deviators.  They were from Brooklyn and did a few 7"s in the early 90s. This one on SKENE RECS is the first of three, right around the time they did a great track on the Swill Record "Benefit For Beer" compilation so I'd assume its a safe bet they probably played the squat scene back then.  For what its worth, I included the Swill comp song at the end of this record.   These guys could play!  I've heard they've went on to do other rock and roll bands later on but I don't know much about.   Enjoy stay safe!

The Bristles - Suicide Note (2008 unreleased)

A attempted return to the Last Years Youth era of the band saw three original members and a few new guys crank out this would be 4th album slated for release on Beer City Records.  It never happened and the Bristles saw a small handful of reunion shows before old age forced them back into a nursing facility somewhere in Sussex County NJ.  It should be noted that vocalist Aaron Obnoxious did bring an entire crate of Whip-its to band practice on more than one occasion.

The Casualties - 1998 Recording Session (unreleased)

Oh the Casualties.  Still here after 27 years kicking around in some form.  Here is, in my opinion, their strongest work.  This was recorded with the same line up as For The Punx.   Redone are a few early songs and you can hear some demos of what would become tracks on Underground Army.  3 of these tracks were taken and used for an ADD records compilation that came out later that year.  Enjoy the jorge-only version of "Drinking Is My Way Of Life", a fine anthem to have pumped into a fucked up teenagers head!

Usual Suspects + 97 and 98 Demos

Usual Suspects were a local band who frequently played the Cove in Roselle NJ.  Heres an unreleased (maybe unfinished?) tape I found that also had the original Demo dubbed on it at the end. I restored the latter the best I could but you can see what time has done to a second/third generation copies cassette.

The Bristles - We're In It Till The End 7" (1996)

I get emails, thousands every week.  All over the world, the computer punx cry out "I REALLY HOPE YOU UPDATE YR BLOG".  Well OK.  Here ye go, a double shot of Sussex County NJ.  A real two-fer.  A nice Bristles record --  Eyyyyy, you know there is plenty of them! I think I paid 5 bucks for this one, and thats probably the most this record has ever sold for.   It's not bad.  An interesting turning point in the Bristles "career" noted by a hand typed letter of how the bass player kicked out the rest of the band and became the lead guitarist/vocalist.  Hey how often does that happen? Solid lyrics - LEATHER BRISTLES CHAINSAW PUNK, THEY'RE THE ONES THAT DONT GIVE A FUCK... Real words to live by.   If you liked lifestyles of the Poor and Unknown, you'll love this!
