Dysfunctional Youth - 1995 Demo

Originally called Two Minute Hate, these dudes grew up across the river from Manhattan, presumably met in high school, dropped out, and formed a band.  This band played some of the most notorious shows in the nyc area alongside a wide range of bands from Casualties, to the Wretched Ones, to Blanks 77. Anyway, this is their second offering - 9 solid pogo punk anthems.  "Born To Lose" is a punk rock classic, makes you hurt to think about why this band never put out a record other than their contributions to the 'Pogo Attack' and 'World Punk 94' compilations. Shortly after this demo, Otto (vocs) left and was replaced by a dude named Manny.  A seven inch was recorded in 1998 and shelved as the band yet again dissolved.  A much more matured and refined version of the band resurfaced in the early 2000's taking the band in a more Oi! direction. They occasionally still gig.

Blanks 77 / Showcase Showdown - Drunk At The Karaoke Bar (1997)

When all the kids first heard rumor of a split 7" between these two, we had such high hopes for quite possibly the greatest piece of wax of the decade.  Sadly upon it's release it caused a bunch half of those kids to cut off their mohawks and go to school.  And now 15 years later, of course, on a blog on the internet, some drunk, unemployed, live-at-home slob will go ahead and refer to is as "the greatest piece of wax of the decade".  See a series of band member romances blossom before your eyes, HEAR 'Everyone Sings With Dale from England : Born in the USA'.  Tario Records, Allston Mass.  Also one should note the inner artwork is of the band members seated around the last supper, you guessed it.... Mike Blanx as the savior.  Happy 4-20 ya'll.

The Denied - S/T 7" (1993)

I know very little about this band other than it was Steve Distraughts' project between Jesus Chrust, and Distraught.  This is a ripping record in its own right! NYC Cider Punks from the glory days of pre-giulianni punk in the once filthiest city in the world.  Squat or Rot! The inside features a drawing of a punk with huge hair sipping cider from a huge straw out of a huge barrel and his shirt reads "Jock Rocks Dead and Your Next!".... I'm pretty sure thats why I bought this record, so here it is!

Lint - S/T 7" (1997)

Here's one from the Bayshore region of New Jersey.  The Bayshore is a shit-hole that sits on the Raritan Bay, mostly noted for its toxic waters and good fishing.  The ideal suburban backdrop for a punk explosion in the mid 90's... A bunch of rejects from Raritan High School got together and made this fine piece of wax for us on SCANDAL RECORDS.  Lint gave us this 7" as well as a demo tape, which i'm sure are all gone.  Also one should note the amazing cover art of punk rockers smashing a Hazlet police car with a bat, and grabbing their crotches.... PUNK!  If my memory serves me right, the band lasted about two years and then became known as The Grillers and tried a more radio rock approach. Enjoy this one, the song Outnumbered is classic.
